POSITION: President

Position Type:  Full time, exempt. The Foundation works through summers, but takes the same breaks as the district during the school year (Spring, Fall, Winter and other holidays).  Regular evening and some weekend work required.

Summary: The President serves as the Chief ExecutiveOfficer of the Putnam City Schools Foundation, carefully balancing internal management with external impact and visibility for this organization. The President is responsible for promoting a collaborative effort between the Foundation and its stakeholders, including the Putnam City School District, Putnam City School Board, PTO Council, and the Putnam City Association of Classroom Teachers. The President drives the fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Development Committee and the Board of Trustees. This position reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and leads a professional staff and a volunteer team of 30-40 individuals.

Responsibilities and Expectations

Leadership
Balance a dynamic, visionary approach with a constant strategic focus.
Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees to develop and execute the shared vision of the Putnam City Schools Foundation as presented in the Strategic Plan.
Lead the Foundation staff in carrying out their responsibilities in order to best achieve the goals of the organization through analysis of benchmarks, prior year performance, and donor feedback.
Allocate limited resources among competing priorities.
Ensure Policies and Procedures and Bylaws are modified as needed with the Governance Committee.

Fiscal Oversight
Working with the Finance Committee, develop a yearly budget based upon evaluation of prior year expenditures and forthcoming expectations.
Ensure that funds donated are spent as requested by the donor.
Regularly evaluate the financial picture of the organization, including investment and endowment accounts.

Development
Skillfully cultivate and solicit donors at all levels (individual, corporate and foundation funders).
Work with the Development Committees to achieve yearly revenue goals.
Ensure that PCF has a robust presence online through website and various social media outlets while building a strategic Communications Plan for utilizing such platforms.

Board Engagement
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with members of the Board of Trustees.
Facilitate onboarding of new trustees and training for committee chairs.
Support the Executive Committee, Chairperson and Committee Chairs in preparing for board and Committee meetings.  
Assist the Governance Committee in identifying qualified candidates to serve as Trustees, Advisory Council Members, and committee members.

Community Engagement
Promote collaborative effort between the Putnam City Schools Foundation and the Putnam City School District, Putnam City School Board, PTO Council, Putnam City Association of Classroom Teachers, a portfolio of donors, corporate leaders and the community at large.
Serve as an official representative of and spokesperson for the Foundation to government entities and the community.
Regularly attend school and community events.
Identify strong volunteers for Penny’s Closet, CareShare, and other efforts as needed.
Improve PCF’s credibility in the community by providing salient education-related information in a variety of forums.

Program Management
Work with the District, Foundation staff and other Foundation volunteers to steward donor investments by providing oversight, accountability and evaluation systems for PCF- funded programs.
Provide guidance to the Scholarship Committee and Programs staff as needed.
Manage the Community and Schools Together program staff and Steering Committee.
Respond dynamically, along with the district and other stakeholders, to provide unexpected resources.

Executive Management
Facilitate onboarding process for all staff and conduct regular evaluations based on agreed-upon performance expectations.
Provide guidance on Human Relations needs, such as setting up insurance, entering payroll, and reviewing the Employee Handbook.
Regular oversight of staff tasks and work products to ensure they meet expectations and reflect positively on the PCF.

BENEFITS: Two weeks vacation.  School holidays off, except summer. Fully-paid health insurance. Other insurances available. Mileage reimbursment. Salary contingent upon experience and education.
