Author Visits: Each year, the Author Visits Program brings published authors and illustrators to the district’s 27 schools. The program also provides autographed books to many students who have been identified as among those who would particularly benefit from receiving a book to keep as their own.
The goal of the Author Visits Program is to improve academic achievement by increasing students’ interest in reading and writing. However, all areas of the curriculum benefit as teachers and library media specialists create units and hands-on, interactive activities that complement authors and illustrators subject matter as books are integrated into the students’ daily lessons and assignments.
