What a Success!
2005 Principal for a Day
On Tuesday,
Feb. 8, the Putnam City Public Schools Foundation hosted the third
annual "Principal for a Day" event. On this day, business and community
leaders spent the morning at district schools, shadowing the principal,
visiting classrooms, talking with teachers and students, touring
schools and discussing challenges schools face.
Principals for a
day are lined up to visit all 27 district schools. The program is
designed to help create an awareness and understanding of the issues
facing Putnam City schools and open the door to business-education
partnerships.
The day began with a short meeting at 7:15 a.m. at the
administration building. Principals for a day and school principals
were welcomed by Foundation President James Dickson. Shortly
thereafter, principals and principals for a day headed out to schools.
"What
we've learned from this program in the past is that when people get a
chance to see a school in action, they come away extremely impressed
with the commitment, passion and skill of district teachers and
administrators. It's a catalyst for greater understanding and support,"
says Dickson.
