Renowned Authors Visit Putnam City Schools

2004-2005 Visiting Authors

The Putnam City Public Schools Foundation is excited about the Author Visit program offered to Putnam City schools. The 2004/2005 school year hosted the following renowned authors:

Susan Stevens Crummel
Kim Doner
Ginger LaCroix
Lynn Moroney
Anna Myers
Mel Odom
Janet Stevens
Bill Wallace
Mike Wimmer

That's 10 authors making 42 visits at 28 schools. The Foundation also purchases books to be signed by the authors and then given to children who could not otherwise afford them. This helps instill the love of reading in our students.

"What a partnership! I believe there is nothing else like this going on in Oklahoma. We are envied, and we deserve it," says Caroline Gist, Executive Director of the Foundation.

The 2005/2006 school year promises to be the best yet. Plans are in motion to invite Darlene Bailey Beard and Dan Gutman and many more outstanding authors to visit Putnam City.
